Irish Bouzoukis, Octave Mandolas and Citterns
With so many variables they can be very personal instruments. I like to work closely with customers to make sure you get what you need from your new instrument.
Irish Bouzoukis –
These come in a standard 650mm scale length with a choice of two teardrop body sizes. The smaller of the two is a more traditional size at 345mm across the belly with the larger coming up to 380mm. They each have their benefits, with the larger giving you bigger more rounded tone. And the smaller fitting beautifully into larger groups of musicians with the classic bright chimey Irish bouzouki voice.
The woods are fully customisable to help create the tone you are looking for. And I’m always happy to talk you through the choices, just get in touch.

Octave Mandolins –
Arguably the most variable of this family of instruments. These come with scale lengths from 520 to 580mm.
The short-scale is great for those used to mandolin and looking for a deeper voice, or simply a more comfortable stretch. This one is only available on the 345mm body size.
The standard 580mm scale is available on either body size, depending on which is more comfortable to you.

Citterns -
The 10 string big brother to the bouzouki. Come with a 580mm scale length suited to open G tuning, amongst others, and on the 380mm body size this instrument provides endless noodling opportunities.
